Whistle Trail

A small D tin-whistle learning game built around Drunken Sailor. See the current note, which holes to cover, and the next three notes. The game fits in one screen, with no scrolling through headers or instructions.

Try it without a whistle

The game opens on Drunken Sailor in Test mode. Press I played it ✓ to confirm each note and move forward. Each confirmation earns points; consecutive clicks build a combo and increase the multiplier. Restart begins a new round. These are simulated confirmations, not an assessment of musical accuracy.

Select Hot Cross Buns for a shorter melody. Note names, octave labels and six-hole diagrams remain visible throughout.

Practice with your instrument

Choose Listen & advance, allow microphone access, and play the displayed note steadily. The guide advances on a matching pitch. Repeated notes require a short silence between breaths. Drunken Sailor includes D6 and E6 in the upper register, with the corresponding fingering and breath guidance.

Audio is analyzed locally with Pitchy and Web Audio, never recorded or uploaded. Timed playback is also available by leaving test mode.

Play in mixed reality

Open the game over HTTPS in Meta Quest Browser and choose Enter MR. For microphone practice, enable listening before entering immersion. Use the controller to select the floating controls; Recenter brings the guide back in front of you. The I played it button also works in mixed reality.

If the embedded page cannot enter immersion, choose Open full page. Leaving mixed reality stops microphone capture. Passthrough, controller input and microphone capture during immersion still need physical-headset acceptance testing. The game does not track your fingers or align graphics to the whistle.

Built for quick practice

TypeScript handles melody progression and scoring. A shared canvas draws the fingering guide for the browser and the Three.js WebXR panel. The standalone Vite game is included in the site build, with no account or installation needed.
